2012 Gaels Got Talent Competition

GGT, the competition, is targeted at non professional artists. 

Finals night will be held on Saturday 3 March, 2011 at The Penrith Gaels Club, Penrith.  7.00pm start.  

There are 10 finalists in this year's competition.

There are two categories - group and individual. Winner from each category gets to play on stage at the 2012 St Patrick's Day event.   For musician or group starting out its a great opportunity to play in front of such a big crowd - they can utube it, promote themselves with it, put it on their website, encourage promoters to come and see them in action etc.   The idea is to get a different cross section of the community interested in attending St Pats day in the park - encourage all ages to get involved and as the professional talent on the stage elevates year on year build the GGT competition into a sought after event.

Last year we had 22 entrants.  Some excellent talent.  Best group went to Castlecomer and best individual went to David Wilson.  As you know 2011 was cancelled and these artists didn't get to perform - we have arranged for them to perform next year and be part of the 2012 celebrations.

This year we have locked in a full day's auditions on Sat 4th Feb 2012 at The Gaelic Club on Devonshire St and a finals night on Sat 3rd March 2012 at The Penrith Gaels.  The park happens on Sun 18th March so it gives the artists enough time to prepare for a 20min set on stage.  The top 10 acts from the auditions will go to the finals.   We have recruited three (3) judges who know music, are interested in donating their time (it will be over two days - auditions and finals) and who will have currency i.e the entrants will understand they are being judged by people who know their stuff.     Its free to enter but on the finals night we're going to charge a nominal fee for attendees as a fundraiser.

Tickets in the 500 club raffle will go on sale 1st December 2011.

The Sydney St Patrick’s Day Parade and Family Day fundraising raffle: The 500 Club.   The 500 Club sells only 500 tickets at a price of $50 each. The winner receives two return flights to Ireland.

The raffle will be drawn on the Main stage at the Family Day in Hyde Park on Sunday 18 March, at 4.00pm.

All profits from the sale of these raffle tickets goes to the Sydney St Patrick's Day Organisation to fund the annual St Patrick's Day Parade and Family Day.
